Pint for a Purpose x Volunteer Wildfire Services

May 2, 2019 IN Pint for a Purpose

One of the most beautiful things about the Mother City has just got to be her wise old mountains. No matter where you are, they sit somewhere on the horizon, strong and steady, looking over us all. Because fynbos and fire go hand in hand, the bright choppers and fire trucks are almost as common a sight – not quite, but we’re making a point here. In and amongst the chaos and carnage of the fierce flames, whipped into a frenzy by gale force South Easters, are a bunch of true legends who battle the blazes hand to hand.

These firefighters work all over the Western Cape in some seriously dangerous situations. What started in 1999 has now become a 200 man-strong, super organized Non-Profit-Organization clocking over 56,000 active firefighting hours. These guys and girls are all ‘normal’ people, many with day jobs, all volunteering their time and energy to protect our beloved outdoor spaces.

We feel it’s time to pay it forward.

Our mountains are so precious to us. They’re our connection to our sense of place, community, and the greater outdoors. There’s almost no better beer than the one you have at the top of a climb, or the end of a run. So we’d like to use our beer to show thanks.

We’re super excited to announce that our next Pint for a Purpose will go towards supporting Volunteer Wildfire Services, where proceeds from our Cape Pale Ale – our ode to Cape Town and her mountains – will go towards much needed training and kit.

You know how it works by now. When you’re next at our brewery look out for the designated tap handle, repeat “One of these, please!” to your bar tender, and proceeds from your delicious beer will go towards this super deserving cause. Oh, and we are also running a competition whereby anyone who buys one of these pints stands a chance to win a keg party for you and your friends at the brewery.

Cheers to that, right?!

If you can’t make it down to the brewery pop into The Fireman’s Arms – every pint of Jack Black Lager will see R10 donated to the Volunteer Wildfire Services.
