Jack Black Burgers Recipe
Serves 4

Burger Patty
800g Good quality beef mince (Not too lean)
2 Cloves of garlic
1tbs Worcestershire sauce
1tbs Soya sauce
1tbs Black pepper coarsely crushed
1tbs Rosemary
Salt to season

Jack Black Onion relish
2 Onions, sliced
2tbs Olive oil
200g Brown sugar
1tbs Thyme, picked from the stems
1tsp Coarse Chilli flakes
1tbs Mustard seeds (optional)
50ml Malt vinegar
1 x 340ml Jack Black beer of choice

To assemble your burger
4 x Brioche burger buns – lightly toasted
4 x Home-made burger patties
4 x Emmental cheese slices or American style cheese slices
Crisp lettuce
Fresh sliced tomato
Pickled cucumber slices (Home made or bought)
Good quality mayonnaise
Jack Black Onion relish

Mix all the burger patty ingredients well and shape them into 200g beef patties. You should be able to get about 4 patties.
Meanwhile, start cutting up the onions and sauté them in olive oil over a medium heat until transparent, then add the brown sugar. Keep an eye on the mix and bring it to a nice caramel colour. Add the herbs, spices and the Jack Black beer of your choice. Continue to cook until a nice jammy consistency forms. Finish it off with some vinegar and cool down before serving.

Start your Weber braai and grill the patties over a sizzling fire for that authentic braai’d flavour. Assemble your burgers and smash them with a bottle of Jack Black Beer on the side. Happy Heritage Day and enjoy it with friends and family!
