About Us JACK BLACK'S BREWING CO.
Focussed on distinctive quality and innovation, our beer is made from the finest natural ingredients at our state-of-the-art Cape Town craft brewery. At Jack Black’s Brewing Co we’re dedicated to brewing beers that inspire us. Our focus is flavour and our philosophy is to innovate while staying true to traditional, hand-crafted methods.
In 2007, founding partners Ross and Meghan McCulloch set out to change the craft beer landscape in Cape Town. Having experienced the North American craft beer culture firsthand, it was clear South Africa had much to learn. Fueled with passion, perseverance, and little else – at a time when the words “craft beer” were foreign to most – Jack Black’s has grown to become one of South Africa’s most sought after and well-loved craft beers.
Jack Black Brewing Co is a family-owned business with a goal to brew some of the highest quality and best tasting beers in Africa.
Our flagship. A stand up, stand out refresher, brewed with our own Black Star pale malt. It’s an all ‘rounder, all day beer. This beer’s got you covered, no matter what!
Tasting Notes: The Original. All Malt. Full Bodied. Smooth & refreshing.
Our unfiltered, aromatic spice bomb packs in super refreshing fruit forward character under a dense foam head. Quaff it down.
Tasting Notes: Full Flavour. Big Aroma. Serve cold as the Atlantic.
CAPE PALE ALE
A hoppy cult classic and outright thirst quencher, our dry-hopped CPA’s got loads of citrus, pine and tropical aromas. Smash it, it ain’t getting any colder.
Tasting Notes: Fresh. Flavourful. Distinct. The essence of Cape Town
Inspired by the skilled tradesman, the brewer, the baker, the BUTCHER, the iconic folks focused on craft and quality…these are our kin. Bang on balance between malt and hops – makes this beer, well… “drop the freaking mic” delicious. With a deep golden colour and distinctive taste…this is a classic beer, with classic style. Boom.
Tasting Notes: Floral aroma with a rich malt complexity. This beer is well-rounded & perfectly balanced.
A truck load of malt, that’s what we wanted. No excuses. This amber ale is sturdy, strong and dark – like drinking a big old redwood while monster pinecones fall from the sky.
Tasting Notes: Lumberjack has a backbone of malty intensity and a nose full of piney-citrus aroma. A full throttle ale.
The “Skeleton Coast” contours the South-West Africa, a rite of passage for IPA laden ships bound for India via Cape Town… in old days gone by. An epic journey, an epic beer. Mission accomplished.
Tasting Notes: Freakin’ deliciously dry hopped, highlighting powerful citrus, floral & earthy aromas. Not for your average (fair weather) sailor.
